Battles - La Di Da Di

Battles, the NYC art rock group, have been around since 2002 and they've also featured on Warp's catalogue for over ten years. The trio are back with a new album on the London imprint, twelve tracks of stoner jams coated in a fine layer of electronic oddity. Much like their previous releases, Battles are minimal on the vocals, preferring instead to speak through their guiatrs, drums and synthesizers; our selections from the LP have to be "Summer Simmer" for its driving groove and almost Bollywood chimes, the slow electronic waves of "Cacio E Pepe", "Dot Com's" percussive energy, and the jazzy influences of the sublime "Tricentennial". Pure class that should not be slept on.
